About Us
History
Time Together was set up by TimeBank in 2002, in response to a government white paper that recommended the provision of mentoring schemes to help refugees integrate better in the UK.
TimeBank used its expertise in creating innovative and exciting volunteering campaigns to devise Time Together. The scheme aimed to complement the well-established services already provided by refugee organisations and community groups.
Since November 2002 Time Together has recruited and matched over 1,500 refugees with volunteer mentors. Time Together has also achieved great success in promoting positive images of refugees in the media.
Time Together is recognised across the UK for the high quality of training, materials and support provided. The scheme has been awarded Beacon Status from the Home Office and Approved Provider Status by the Mentoring & Befriending Foundation.
In April 2005, TimeBank received funding from the Home Office and HM Treasury for an expansion of the project. Time Together is currently running in 24 locations across the UK. TimeBank works in partnership with local organisations to ensure effective and sustainable delivery of the project.
